- Confirm your date.Sydney needs more lead time on the admin than most cities. Council parking permits in the City of Sydney, Inner West and Randwick areas usually want a few days’ notice; strata buildings often want a week or more to release the lift and process a certificate of currency. Your move coordinator sorts all of this before the day so nothing stalls when the truck arrives.

The time a removal in Sydney takes comes down to how much furniture is moving, how the access works at both ends, and how far apart the two properties sit. Sydney makes that last one count more than most cities. A 25-kilometre move that runs 30 minutes in Perth or Brisbane can take well over an hour here, especially across the bridge or through the inner suburbs at school pickup time.
As a general guide, two movers can usually load around 8 cubic metres per hour and unload around 12 cubic metres per hour. With good access, these averages give you a rough idea of loading and unloading times.
These are estimates only. Things that can stretch a Sydney job out include: terrace stairs, walk-ups with no lift, council parking restrictions that push the truck further from the front door, strata time windows that interrupt unloading, and traffic between suburbs at peak times.
You’ll also want to allow for travel time between pickup and delivery. And in Sydney, that figure can swing 30 to 60 minutes depending on the time of day.

Sydney Removals – Pricing and Quotes
The price of a local move in Sydney comes down to the usual variables, including home size, distance between addresses, access at both properties, packing or storage needs. Two specifically-Sydney factors also feed into it: tolls and travel time. A move from the Northern Beaches to the Inner West can involve two or three toll points and 60 to 90 minutes of actual driving. Both affect the quote.
We don’t publish a flat hourly rate because no two Sydney moves are quite the same. Our quotes break out labour, travel, expected tolls and any extras you’ve asked for, so the number you see before the move is the number you see on the invoice. Movers in Sydney sometimes leave the toll question vague until later; we don’t.

Are road tolls included in my Sydney moving quote?
Yes. We factor expected tolls into your written quote rather than tacking them onto the invoice afterwards. We default to the most efficient route, which usually means using toll roads where they save enough time to be cheaper overall. If you’d rather a toll-free route, let us know when you book and we’ll quote that instead.
Do you provide certificates of insurance for strata buildings?
Yes. Most Sydney strata buildings, particularly in the CBD, Eastern Suburbs and North Sydney, require a certificate of currency before they’ll let a moving truck on site or release the lift key. We can supply this to your strata manager or building manager in advance. Just let us know when you book and we’ll handle it as part of your move admin.
What if my terrace house doesn't have driveway access?
This is the standard situation for much of inner Sydney, including Paddington, Surry Hills, Newtown, Glebe, Balmain, Erskineville and similar areas. We park as close as we can to the front door, lay protective runners across footpaths if needed, and carry items the rest of the way. For some streets, a temporary council parking permit makes the job significantly easier. We’ll tell you up front if yours is one of them and help you sort it.
